RedClay Excavation & Demo recently completed a full backyard grading project in the Edgewater subdivision of Kennesaw, Georgia, located in Cobb County. This project is a great example of how proper grading can completely transform a space and make a backyard both functional and enjoyable again.

The Challenge: Uneven and Unusable Backyard

When the homeowner first contacted us, their backyard was lumpy, uneven, and difficult to use. Poor grading had left the area inconsistent in elevation, making it unsuitable for outdoor activities, future landscaping, or even regular mowing. Like many properties in North Georgia, drainage and surface consistency were key concerns that needed to be addressed correctly.

Our Solution: Precision Backyard Grading

Using our bobcat, our team carefully reworked the existing soil to eliminate low spots and high areas, creating a flat, level surface throughout the backyard. One of the major advantages of this project was that no additional dirt was required—we were able to efficiently regrade and reshape the existing material on site, saving the homeowner time and money.

Once the grading was complete, the yard was properly prepared and seeded for grass. To protect the seed and reduce the risk of erosion, we finished the job by covering the seeded areas with pine straw, helping retain moisture and promote healthy grass growth.
